ExplorEarths

What is it?

ExplorEarths is a teaching resource designed for use with children aged 7-8 years to engage young people in discussions about sustainable living.
Informed by the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Planetary Boundaries Framework, the project adopts a system of thinking to help young people understand the consequences of their actions and their impact on the world.
ExplorEarths explores themes of air pollution, biodiversity loss and future food, to demonstrate the connected and interdependent nature of living systems. Understanding planetary boundaries is vital for long-term sustainability

in an uncertain world.

Why ExplorEarths?

Education is key if we want to achieve a more sustainable future but sadly

it is hardly recognised in the current British schooling curriculum or educational policy.
ExplorEarths promotes and provides skills in critical and systems thinking which is

needed to understand the complexity of concepts around sustainability.

Enabling a more holistic vision of the world.

Why is it important?

It is essential that young people understand the systems we live in, and that we provide the knowledge and skills required to enable them to succeed in protecting our planet for the future.
The gap between theory and action in sustainable education is still a challenge for educators. Although we have the knowledge and pedagogies for sustainable education, there is a lack of educational resources. ExplorEarths intends to narrow that gap by implementing sustainable principles and pedagogies.
